Review of The Apartment (1960) by Calvin C — 15 Oct 2011
Best Picture Winner of 1960, Billy Wilder's social comedy-drama is not too far fetched by today's standars but just think how it was seen back in 1960. Jack Lemmon is great as C.C. Baxter and Shirley MacLaine is the cutest thing in this movie. There is a reason why so many of the men in the office fall for her. It's funny, sad, sweet, and daring at the same time. It poses the question: what is more important? Your career or your self respect? The last line is just classic and Lemmon and MacLaine show ho real chemistry is done on screen.
