Review of The Angry Birds Movie (2016) by Kevin R — 29 May 2016
No, don't spit it back! Uh, don't swallow it.
A flock of birds live on an Island that is secluded and was established by an eagle that has become legendary. A red bird that is troubled by his society lives away from the other birds and is often in fights that eventually lead to him being assigned to anger management. One day, pigs arrive on the island, and due to the red bird's anger issues, the other birds don't listen to his warnings of the danger the pigs may present.
"These pigs are mysterious and weird, am I right? I don't trust them! I think they're up to something!".
"Your opinion is not needed!".
Clay Kaytis and Fergal Reilly collaborate to deliver their first animated picture, Angry Birds. The storyline for this picture was okay but the comedic content was hilarious and better than one may anticipate. The animation style was beautiful and the voices fit the characters very well.
"The pigs are stealing our eggs!".
I caught this the weekend after it came out at the movies with my daughter using some free movie tickets her grandmother sent her. She has always loved the Angry Birds and actually wanted to see this over The Jungle Book. We laughed throughout the film and found the comedic content fairly solid and a nice blend of kids and adult humor. I recommend seeing this once.
"Something about those pigs isn't kosher.".
Grade: B.
