Review of The Andromeda Strain (1971) by Paul Z — 13 Apr 2012
I just watched The Andromeda Strain on Netflix Instant Watch. Hadn't seen it since I was a kid, but remembered it was creepy. Well, it's more dumb than creepy. I'm gonna assume the book was much better.
The lab sets were cool though, very minimalist 70's style, lots of aluminum, and big button controls. The computers did way too much plot work for the green screen pieces of crap that they were. The acting and script was B grade, alternating between sarcastic and wooden.
I saw Richard O'Brien's name in the opening credits and had hopes I'd see Riff Raff in an early role, but no such luck. It wasn't a horrible movie, it just didn't age well at all.
