Review of The American President (1995) by Paul N — 10 Jan 2009
Utterly charming romantic comedy/drama which succeeds principally due to pitch-perfect performances and a cracking script by Aaron Sorkin. Filled with insight, issues and- customary for Sorkin- brilliant dialogue, this can almost be regarded as his test run for what eventually became THE WEST WING.
Oh, and in my opinion? Michael Douglas' Andrew Shepard = BEST MOVIE PRESIDENT EVER. (As opposed to Best TV/All Pop Culture President Ever, Sorkin's own Jed Bartlet.).
