"Dont make any friends jack, you used to know that." Despite the hardened character of the title seeming to have no heart and the slow pace of the film, you eventually realize there's more to the American than meets the eye which culminates in one of the most moving sequences in recent memory.
Rewarding suspense drama for a patient viewer.
