Review of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014) by Jordan J — 17 Jul 2017

Well I rewatched this movie and I have some new thoughts about it. This movie is ok. There were some things I liked about this movie. Then there were some things that I really disliked about this movie. But then once you combine those two lists, for me, this movie just ends up as ok. Right in the middle. Now let's start with the things I disliked about this movie. There is just way too much going on. There's romance, Peter's mysterious parents, and this movie trying to make the sinister six. There are too many plots for this movie. Like all that romance, sure it can get us good at one scene and touch us but is all the romance really necessary. This is Spider-man, not Peter and Qwen the movie. Then with Peter's parents. Sure it brings some interesting things to the movie but do we really need that. There is just way too much backstory. Why can't we just focus on Spidey trying to beat the bad guys. Then there's the sinister six. Sure it's really cool but the main problem with that side plot is that it brings something else to focus on. We already have too much to pay attention to in this movie. Now they just need to cool it. Then with all of these plots together, this doesn't feel like a Spider-man movie. I'm too focused on everything else. The only time this feels like a Spider-man movie is when he's swinging around New York fighting the bad guys. Everything else is too distracting. You can't just focus on one thing in this movie. It's just way too much. Now with the things I enjoyed in this movie. I liked the villains. I think it was a good choice for electro and the green goblin. Even though the Rhino wasn't in this movie a whole lot, o still liked his suit. I also liked the designs for electro and the green goblin. All three of the villains looked really cool. Then there's the action sequences. I liked how there was more action than the first movie. The first movie was good but it got boring at some times. This movie is pretty action packed so I found myself pretty entertained throughout the movie. I also kind of liked the romance a little bit but it did get distracting at some parts. I really just liked the chemistry between Andrew and Emma. And that's about it. Overall this movie is just ok. There's just way too much going on. C-.

OLD REVIEW: Well this movie was actually decent. It definitely wasn't as good as the first remake but at least it introduced new characters that have never been in a Spider-Man movie. One thing that this movie improved over the first one is that it had more action and less talking around. But like some Spider-Man movies, one sequel ends up not being just right. That is what this one shows. Another thing this movie does is focus too much on setting up a new movie for the sinister six. It really isn't just the sinister six though, this movie focuses too much on other unnecessary plots. Peter and Qwen, Peter's parents, and of course, the sinister six. And sadly it doesn't focus on being a great movie over all. And the cliff hanger ending was terrible because now there will be no other amazing spider man movies. This movie gets a C.
