Review of The Alphabet Killer (2008) by Mike R — 01 Feb 2009
I think the movie deserves more credit than it has been given. I wasn't at all bored while watching the movie. I felt there were really 2 parts to it. There's the suspense/Mystery of the murder investigations, which you expected there to be, and then there is the psychological aspect.
It shows the progression of the case through the viewpoint of the character with Schizophrenia. People don't believe her ideas because of the illness she suffers from that makes her seem crazy from the get go.
The ironic thing is that she is dead on even if at a certain point she is convinced that its all a coincidence. Still there is more to unfold in the mystery aspect of the movie as it proceeds. I actually really liked how her psychosis ties in with the murder case, At times I felt like you're not totally sure which facts are real and which are blown out of proportion, and I think that was 100% intentional.
Dushku did an incredible job playing the part. I don't think it could have been done better. I've said my piece.
