Review of The Alphabet Killer (2008) by Jesse O — 17 May 2011
Not much of a movie really. Eliza Dushku's fine but it's not like I'll ever expect her to win a major award because of her acting talents. Plus the movie's trying to make you think this woman's going crazy, yet we see everything that's making her go insane, so I guess we're supposed to be insane too.
And I don't know if it was just me, but I completely zoned out at the end. I just didn't give a fuck to see what was happening. Plus the twist of the "cripple" actually being the killer was kinda predictable and lame.
There's also the issue of why this movie has the cast that it does for such a horrendous movie. I'm not sure why Melissa Leo, Bill Moseley, Michael Ironside, Timothy Hutton, Tom Noonan are even IN this movie.
I'm assuming they owed a favor to Rob Schmidt and he just called in all the favors owed to him for this movie. Because it's not like any of these people played any REAL major part in how the story moved forward.
There's also the fact that when Eliza's character says the girls that have been murdered and it just looks completely and utterly corny and cheesy. Just an all-around failure on all fronts. Eliza's fine, movie is still shite.
