Review of The Alamo (2004) by Jenna I — 21 Feb 2009
[font=Verdana]The Alamo was a somewhat decent film about the events that surrounded the events that occurred there. The acting in the film was up and down throughout the film. Billy Bob Thornton (Sling Blade) as always was entertaining, but average and Dennis Quaid (The Rookie) played his normal intense self, which might not have been right for his part.
The surrounding cast followed Quaid?s intensity and while they were above average, they were nothing spectacular which matched Thornton and Quaid. The writing for the film was decent but it lacked any real buzz that made it stand out when compared to other war films similar to this one.
The direction was well done as the battles scenes looked very good, although it would have been better had the cinematography not been as poor as it was. The end result of this film is that unless you are history buff, the film will more likely than not, hold no interest you.
