Review of The Aggression Scale (2012) by Al M — 20 Feb 2013
Kind of like "Home Alone" but with the emphasis on brutality and gore, "The Aggression Scale" starts as it means to go on with a household slaying and pretty much never lets up, as a gang of thugs (looking like rejects from "The Hills Have Eyes") chase around trying to find a stash of money that has been stolen from their fleeing Mr Big Boss, who has unexpectedly been granted bail from prison.
They find their way to an out-of-the-way house where all hell breaks loose after the two kids mange to escape the inevitable bloodbath and fight back with a selection of bruising traps that quickly cripple, and eventually dispatch, the murderous reprobates.
Young Owen's aggression scale is through the roof - so much so he's just been busted out of the nuthouse - and he has no qualms about making his foes bleed, and bleed big. "The Aggression Scale" is cheap, quick and nasty, but it's very watchable despite some wobbly performances and a plot that stinks faintly of nonsense.
The ending is claptrap of the highest order, but it's a fun ride getting there.
