Review of The Age of Stupid (2009) by Leo L — 08 Jul 2011
A movie that is set in the future that looks back on our age and how when we had the opportunity to save the planet we were too greedy, ignorant, and lazy to do it. This is really a documentary with clips of events and people but it is set up to be a cautionary tale showing what the future will hold if we continue on this path.
I think the most frustrating part is seeing people put so much time and effort into bettering the world and developing green energy but being thwarted by big business, misinformation campaigns and pure ignorance at every turn.
Watching those who derail these efforts then celebrate defeating them is sickening. The people who try so hard to propel these green initiaitives are left demoralized, leaving you wondering how can we ever save this planet when we constantly destroy all attempts that are made towards this end.
Many interesting ideas are put forth in this movie about how it can be turned around with carbon cards and international agreements on energy use. The depressing part is knowing the very countries that can make the biggest difference will never agree to these sorts of ideas.
In essence it would seem our fate is sealed. Sorry not so much a movie review as a diatribe, but nothing burns me up as much as greed and ignorance.
