Review of The Age of Innocence (1993) by R W — 21 Aug 2009
I'm not a huge Scorsese fan to begin with, but this is dreadful. First of all, I want him to stop moving the camera, darnit. Secondly, I think he needs to stop caring about period detail and pay a little more attention to the characters, who all come across as very lifeless.
There's absolutely no chemistry between Pfeiffer and Day-Lewis, and Ryder is just not enough of an actress to pull off May Welland. Finally, the voice over has got to go.
