Review of The Age of Innocence (1993) by Nastiti U — 27 Dec 2010
This is truly interesting story, classical love triangle very well performed by all the cast. Strong chemistry between Daniel and Michelle and precisely done character by Winona. High class actors perfectly express the main idea of keeping pose and hiding true feelings.
From the very begining I was astonished by photography - moving to keep slow scenes dynamic and targeting characters and objects. Meaningful usage of domestic things, meals and so on help actors to express the main idea as well as their characters.
To say the true it would be great movie except I couldn't stand the narration which makes me feel like watching documentary about high society but not the artistic movie. The narration kills all the well played chemistry and makes the movie come so slow that it gets boring.
Also it reveals all the feeling, thoughts, etc. and do not let the audience to discover this by their own. It just makes all the movie seem hardly constructed, slow and even boring.
