Review of The Age of Innocence (1993) by Bask In My Glow — 09 Oct 2008
I love the costumes and just the detail and thought put into the movie by Director Scorsese. It's like stepping back in time. What I like most about this movie, is you feel like you are looking through someone's window, watching their most intimate moments.
Its a truly voyeuristic romantic drama that unfolds before your very eyes. The story is wonderful, because it is clear that the main character played by Daniel Day Lewis, who I think is brilliant.. was deeply infatuated with Countess Olenska, but after the death of his wife, he realized who was the TRUE love of his life and that he carried this torch for the wrong woman, but all along he had been kind unfair to his wife.
His wife really loved him, enough to want the best for him even after she died and knowing what he gave up when he had to choose, between her and the Countess was so sad. She loved him anyways and wanted to give him what she thought he wanted most which was the Countess.
This is a must see film. See it alone, that is the best way to view this film.
