Review of The Age of Adaline (2015) by Hugo G — 30 Apr 2015
7.8/10.
Blake Livelyâ< is one of my favorite actresses and overall icons, and so I was very looking forward for her newest film after a few years since her last movie. But not only did the movie look like a cute love story, but it also had an interesting story that gave it a twist to the romance genre. Therefore, the movie does have some problems of narrative in its first half, with all the explanations of her story and how she got to be ageless and so it was kind of awkward how it All came together, but once the love story starts to pull closer, the movie comes to life and stars to get more intriguing and more fluid. Moreover, Blake Livelyâ< was really good as ageless Adaline, showcasing that she can carry an entire movie on her shoulders with her talent and beauty. Also, Michiel Huismanâ< was good too as her love interest, while Harrison Fordâ< and Ellen Burstynâ< really were outstanding in their short but important screen time. The cinematography was also really good and some scenes looked really beautiful and really set a different mood and differentiated the movie from other romance films by giving it a tad more sophistication. Overall, it was a good love story that goes beyond cliches and repetitive premises, but still not varying to far from them, with very good performances and quality in general.
