Review of The African Queen (1952) by Nat G — 09 Jun 2009
As old English films go, this is one of the better ones, and a lot of the special effects are not to bad. The main story line in this adventure is really the love story, an odd couple being thrown together and after hating each other they fall deeply in love, even putting their necks on the line just as they get married.
Also the acting is mighty fine and Bogart is just brilliant and I can see why he won an Oscar for this film. The thing that lets this film down is the story line of the ship going down the river, I just found it a bit repetitive, other than that, this is a great rainy Sunday afternoon film.
