Sure you've seen 'Casablanca' and 'The Maltese Falcon,' but this just might be Humphrey Bogart's most underrated and overlooked classic. The chemistry between Bogey's rough and tough Charlie and Katharine Hepburn's straight laced but exceptionally fiesty Rosie is pure Golden Age magic.
One of the first films to be shot on location in Africa, "The African Queen" offers an original plot, sugary sweet moments, heart-pounding action (despite some flawed, early "greenscreening"), riveting drama and even a few laughs to break the tension.
Whether you're looking for a classic Hollywood tale, something to watch on a Saturday afternoon, a rainy day or even a date movie, "The African Queen" is an exceptional gem from Hollywood's golden age.
