Review of The African Queen (1952) by Vince D — 11 Feb 2012
An all time favorite is a great addition to my Blu-ray collection. Arguably Bogie's best performance, and Hepburn goes toe-to-toe. I read an article somewhere that said Huston was often left off of lists of great directors, and realized I was guilty too. So I'm trying to atone by buying the BDs of his films that are available. (Shortly after reading said article, I came across a list of 100 favorite directors, and sure enough, no John Huston.).
If you need any more reasons to go hi-def, this BD should sway you. I don't think this looked as good in 1951.
