Review of The African Queen (1952) by Morten L — 19 Mar 2012
Whimsy and silly, but entertaining star-vehicle romantic adventure from John Houston that's richly served in it's exquisite Technicolour (especially on Blu-ray). Bogart and Hepburn, while make a good pairing, ham it up distractingly, and too often.
I don't think it's necessarily worthy of the tremendous acclaim it/has received. Houston is better when he does noirs and gangster pics. But it's perfectly fine and amiable.
