Review of The Adventures of Tintin (2011) by Chris J — 08 Oct 2012
What do you get when legendary director/producer Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson get together to make a movie, apparently something mediocore. The Adventures of Tintin is a wonderful looking movie with an extremely good sense of adventure.
Tintin starts off a little slow but easily picks up the pace shortly after. I liked this movie because it sends the viewer on a big quest for adventure, and Tintin has a massive quest that spands cities, ships and oceans, skies, and even the desert to solve the mystery that Tintin and his partner Snowy are trying to solve.
While watching this movie I couldn't help but to keep thinking of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom because Spielbergs influence is all on this movie. But there is one big problem, after a little while the action becomes just a little to repetitive and starts to become.
...dare I say it.....Boring. While its just one problem it is a big one, and at 1 hour 44 minute run time the movie isn't exactlty short and it does kinda drag on. However it does have so much else going for it visually, audiably, and story wise, cracking the occasional joke or having that sorta quarky childish sense of humor that CG movies have.
To bad that with everything the film had going for it, it just came up short when it needed it the most. 3 stars.
