Review of The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad (1949) by Riley M — 21 Apr 2011
As my old worn out vhs copy will tell you, I've been a long time fan of this glorious double feature. It combines two great stories and presents them in a near perfect form. Mr. Toad's segment is much like it's character; all kinds of crazy.
At heart, it's just the adventures of a jolly little British Toad. The Sleepy Hollow segment is definitely something beautiful and one of the greatest spooky stories that's ever been properly adapted on an animated platform.
Sure it has light-hearted moments, but I remember that it used to have some genuinely scary parts for kids. In truth, there's absolutely no reason these two stories should be presented together, but it sort've just works.
