Review of The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad (1949) by Adrian Z — 10 Jan 2012
3 - Although there is little to connect The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow and The Wind In The Willows, besides the literary theme, Disney studios decided to put two segments of little over a half hour each into a feature film.
I myself remember fondly the intense headless horseman segment, which surely inspired ex-Disney animator Tim Burton later on when he filmed Sleepy Hollow. The Toad segment is witty and manic. The doubleheader should please kids on boring Sunday afternoons, but lacks the overall sparkle of some more lavish Disney productions.
The songs are not so memorable either.
