Review of The Adventures of Baron Munchausen (1988) by Jacob G — 08 May 2010
A wild-ride fantasy delving deep into the imagination of Terry Gilliam. Uma Thurman has never looked better, Robin Williams provides an interesting (and unexpected) role, and the various miscreants around Munchausen are amusing.
The plot feels a touch haphazard, but ultimately works out fairly well. Well, in my mind Gilliam as a director can do no wrong. Sarah Polley is charming in her role as straight "man". And Eric Idle gets plenty of screen time (despite being the least interesting of Munchausen's posse).
Definitely worth seeing for those interesting in imaginative and absurd treks of fantasy.
