Review of The Adventures of Baron Munchausen (1988) by Sean M — 29 Oct 2007
Hilarious, fantastic, and above all imaginative. Movies of this caliber are hard to come by, as the theme is so mature but the special effects so comically cheesy, but I'd expect nothing less from Terry Gilliam.
He portrays the elderly Baron Munchausen old in body but young in spirit with stories to tell and adventures still to be had. In a world of reason, there's no place for fantasy, and the Baron is, as in the opening scenes, merely a character in a play.
Masterful work by Gilliam.
