Review of The Adventures of Baron Munchausen (1988) by Jerome M — 24 Feb 2008
All the central Quixotic elements of every Gilliam movie are present here in their most obvious forms.
The Don Quixot-esq Baron philosophically battles the forces of reality, embodied in part by Jonathan Pryce's government minister.
A very nice piece of film-making, and story-telling (both by Gilliam, and his muse Von Munchausen).
Robin Williams's (uncredited) role is the only disappointing portion of the movie...his ranting ad-libs, as usual, go on a bit too long.
