Review of The Adventures of Baron Munchausen (1988) by A R — 05 Feb 2009
While I don't think it's as good as Brazil or Time Bandits, it is still highly underrated. Most of the critics claimed the plot was too confusing, but I have never found that to be the case. Or perhaps I'm just inclined to Gilliam's brand of weirdness.
I don't think in straightforward, sensible plots, and I have soft-spot for stories-within-stories. The scene where they sail to the moon is forever ingrained into my psyche. Never ceases to amaze, even after multiple viewings.
