Review of The Adventures of Baron Munchausen (1988) by Abel D — 22 Dec 2013
Wild, wacky and full of imagination, Gilliam's take on the tall tales of the German noble sends 80s fantasy out with a bang. A group of terrific and spirited performances from the likes of Neville, Idle, Reed and Polley, a whimsical yet bold and bombastic score by the under-appreciated Michael Kamen, and stunning set pieces with terrific model work and practical effects make for a great package.
Throw in some Python-style anarchy and wild sight gags, and you have rock solid fantasy entertainment.
