Review of The Addams Family (1991) by Jon C — 03 Mar 2014
Though its resolution may be cheap fan-pleasing, Sonnenfeld's debut is brimming with great little dark jokes both visual and verbal. These are supported by a manic yet also ethereal score by veteran Marc Shaiman, and a game cast on top form.
Of note are the late great Julia and Huston, making a perfect Gomez and Morticia, while Christopher Lloyd and Christina Ricci embody their respective roles flawless. In particular, the latter's dry humour leading to some of the film's best moments.
