Review of The Act of Killing (2012) by George B — 09 Oct 2013
IMHO: How's this for a review?- One of the greatest and most powerful documentaries I've ever seen and yet a must-miss for most people. "The Act of Killing" is Josh Oppenheimer's brilliant look into the lives of members of one of the notorious death squads after the military coup in Indonesia in 1965/66.
The thousands of murders of "communists" and Chinese were simply the normal, everyday duties of these government-sanctioned annihilators. The gut-wrenching two hours are frighteningly informative but not for the squeamish or even the average moviegoer.
