Review of The Accountant (2016) by Joel M — 21 May 2017
SPOILERS ALERT. This is one of the best movies I have ever seen. I re-watched it right away. Anyone who has felt that they didn't fit in, which is quite a lot of us, could relate to this character.
I have never been a big fan of Ben Affleck, but I think this is the best role he has ever played. For me this one tops Argo in which he did a good job as well. He nails the understated, autistic Christian Wolff.
Christian is efficient and quick when he is working with numbers as an accountant. As an assassin Christian is also quick and efficient preferring headshots and quick kills. He is meticulous when he works with no wasted motion.
The ensemble cast is brilliant. The twist at the end reuniting the brothers is great. I especially like the reveal at the end of the true identity of the British voice behind the scenes. I want more. What if Christian is not the only talented person with autism that Justine helps do good in the world? And what if there is a network of savants around the world who help gather the intel for Justine and other "agents" like Christian? I'd also like to see more from Agent (Director?) Marybeth Medina as she receives crime solving tips from Justine.
Here's hoping that this movie sparks a Borne Identity-like franchise.
