Review of The Accidental Tourist (1988) by Michael V — 16 Nov 2011
Lawrence Kasdan's film is, basically, a dramedy of the sort that we've seen before, but he takes a warm and introspective approach to the genre that works quite well, allowing both the dramatic and comedic elements to exist (relatively) realistically.
Hurt is good as the lead, and his character's progression from the beginning of the film to the end is very effective. In addition, John Williams' score (which I was unfamiliar with beforehand) floored me; it's a lovely and (when necessary) emotional piece of work.
