Review of The Abominable Dr. Phibes (1971) by Jenna R — 10 Aug 2007
Its fair to expect some horrid deaths here, but its what you dont see that gives you the sense of horroras a traditional horror film should be. It is very clearly a product of the early 1970s with its set designs and overall art direction, which are worth seeing in themselves.
Dr Phibes talking behind his mask, almost narrating his actions, is spooky and camp at the same time. Fab stuff.
