Review of The 7th Voyage of Sinbad (1958) by Gianni V — 17 Oct 2008
The portrayal of Baghdad is rather laughable. Last time I checked it didn't look much like the hillsides of Southern California. The special effects are certainly relatively remarkable considering the time period, but King Kong still blows this out of the water.
The film has a certain appeal, but it's not quite campy enough for me to really love it. It should be more over the top and take itself less seriously. I think I would enjoy the film far more if it were filmed today or if I were reading it.
