Review of The 5th Wave (2016) by Bryan G — 20 Feb 2016
As far as entertainment, this movie does that much. However, between being utterly predictable and being another flash in the pan of sy-fy dystopian movies it falls very flat on very deaf ears. In fewer words, this movie is "The Host" mixed with "The Scorch Trials" and the extra explosions from "The Hunger Games" that got left on the editing room floor.
As I said, "The 5th Wave" isn't bad, but it's elements have been used so many times in the last five to seven years that it's a little too late for this movie. So, if you need your mind numbed with idle entertainment that requires no thought and is less than engaging, this is the movie for you.
