Review of The 39 Steps (1935) by James S — 18 Apr 2008
Something of a rarity this one....a misfire for Hitchcock. The film never really feels like it gets going and although the middle section is it's best, what surrounds it is both confusing and drama free.
It's premise seems quite similar to the far superior North By Northwest so perhaps this was Alfred's way of warming up for his greater things to come.
