Review of The 39 Steps (1935) by Meaghan C — 01 Oct 2009
I think this is the closest Hitchcock might have gotten to a romantic comedy. The master of suspense creates a charming story that follows the mishaps that fall into the lap of Canadian Richard Hannay. The relationship between Hannay and Pamela proves to be the most entertaining aspect of the film. The banter of the couple is much like such great screwball romantic comedies as It Happened One Night. Funny and entertaining.
The plot seems so familiar, but I can't seem to place my finger on what film it is...
