Review of The 39 Steps (1935) by J.b. R — 16 Jul 2011
Excellent mid-30s British Hitchcock concerning one of his most used plot devices, the man accused of a crime he did not commit. The film is in many ways an outline of the many elements that would come to be known as "Hitchcockian".
The incredible framing of the camera, the pace, the humor, it is all on display here. Robert Donat is fantastic in the lead.
