Review of The 300 Spartans (1962) by Jeff B — 30 May 2011
Boring, very unrealistic, and strangely presented. The Spartans don't really fight like Greek hoplites, they fight like Roman cohorts. In fact, basically everything about this film screamed Roman rather than Greek.
They even talked about Jove (instead of Zeus) at one point! I'm still waiting for a good film adaptation of one of the most important points in ancient history.
