Review of The 300 Spartans (1962) by Jalapeno J — 19 Dec 2007
It has a lot more background than 300 about Termopylae, but unfortunately falls into the Herodotus syndrome. Whereas in 300 you know you are watching a comic, this movie tries to show accurate "history" telling and ends up showing what scholars have incorrectly assumed for hundreds of years.
The phalanx in 300 is way more accurate than 300 Spartans. At least this movie shows the coordination between Athenian navy under Temisthocles and the Hellenic taskforce under Leonidas.
