Amazing piece of work, not only for the screenwriting but also because of the heroism directly featured, much to Eastwood's detriment and the chagrin of the doggedly knee jerk unpatriotic film industry.
Eastwood's crusade to change the rating when he was unfairly penalized by the ratings board as a crude attempt to make it a failure was brave and badass, per usual. This film was beautiful and inspiring without being campy.
