Review of The 13th Warrior (1999) by Sarang D — 03 Jul 2010

This film is the best viking film I have seen.

The acting was REALLY good and the actors who did the Vikings (although I don't know their names) really looked how I imagined them and were obviously hard to find (some of them sounded scottish) and also I think that Banderas was good.

The landscape was just how I imagined Scandinavia and I was surprised to find that the hero (who was Arabic) didn't look like he was cold.

The music was perfect, doesn't get boring, is really original and is so good (in my opinion) that it is almost impossible not to remember (i can prove it: i've been humming it for weeks. but not non stop.).

It's a shame that the plot was not original: I found out that it wasn't original after I watched the seven samurai, but still it's a good one and there's some scary bits not many though. I liked the atmosphere of the film how it was all dark and misty but it can change suddenly as well. The baddies you first think are some creature's from the norse legend's and then (SPOILERS AHEAD) they find out that they are human's and the baddie humans want them to think that they are bears so they go to their caves to kill their leader's.

The fighting was REALLY good I mean reeeeeeeeeeally good and (if you have a weak stomach bring a sick bag when you watch it) there's a lot of gore in it so thats why I wrote that and people lose arms and legs (you don't really see anyone lose arms or legs) and in the end fight the leader (you can see his picture on my profile) knock's a guy off his horse when the horse whom the guy is riding guy is in full gallop and the end fight is all in slow motion.

Personally I think this film is great and hard to know why it got such bad ratings. so I recommend it to people who like the norse legends and action packed films were the plot moves fast enough never to get boring.

P.S If you can think of any other Viking films I would like to know, as I really like Vikings but haven't seen many films with them in!
