Review of The 13th Warrior (1999) by Robert P — 07 Oct 2012
Unlike many recent films that tried and failed....this film manages to capture just enough of viking lore and ambiance to make it interesting. While contrived at times, there moments that save the film and make it enjoyable to see.
The banter (and subsequently the friendship) that develops between "the Persian" and "The North Men" is particularly enjoyable. Crichton's viking's are not depicted as bloodthirsty barbarians.
..but rather, affable enough fellows who are likable, once you get past their gruff exterior and strange traditions.
