Review of Testament of Youth (2015) by Lise N — 03 Jul 2015
An incredibly touching story based off of Vera Brittain's novel "Testament of Youth". The acting is excellent and for those concerned that period drama is "slow", there isn't any of that in this movie.
The director successfully has created moments in the film that juxtapose two different realities; the optimism and fearlessness of youth in times of peace in contrast to the overwhelming sense of despair and finality that comes with war.
Some of the scenes tell the story so well visually that no dialogue is needed. You will find that you continue to think about the ideas in this movie after you have left the theater.
