Review of Terribly Happy (2008) by Myles H — 12 Mar 2010
Anyone who's a fan of foreign cinema and enjoys the Coen brothers will lick this right up, if they can find it. Danish export follows a simple fish-out-of-water premise, invests it with all the requisite neo-noir trappings, and a deliberately kooky, yet subdued sense of humor.
It all makes for a winning combination, and the film is thoroughly engrossing from start to finish. The cast is all wonderful, led by Jakob Cedergren, Kim Bodnia, and Lene Maria Christensen. If you can't wait until "True Grit" for your next Coen brothers fix, this film will more than satisfy your needs.
