Review of Terminator Salvation (2009) by Erickl — 25 May 2009
Incredibly poor story, full of holes and minimal characterization. Does the action make up for it? Nope. A hallmark of the Terminator series is 'show me something I haven't seen before'.
This movie not only fails to do that, it doesn't even try. Competent effects gone to waste. PG-13 rating means it lacks the visceral thrills or terror inherent to the franchise. Inept Terminators are apparantly unable to really kill anything.
..they just rought you up a little. Audiences looking for epic battle sequences between the armies of the humans and machines will be disappointed, as all of the conflicts here are small scale, cliched, and ripped off from previous installments (another factory fight? Really) and other movies.
A huge disappointment, the weakest of the Terminator films by far, and a sad way to cap off the franchise.
