Review of Terminator Salvation (2009) by Deeba S — 13 May 2013
The fourth film in the terminator series was nothing but an extravagant display of special effects. The movie is set in 2018 and Christian Bale plays John Connor, a self-proclaimed leader who builds a resistance team to battle Skynet.
For those who have not seen earlier terminator movies, Skynet is the computer version of evil. Rest of the movie had a grimy Sam Worthington (as Marcus Wright) and Anton Yelchin (as Kyle Reese) shooting mindlessly at iron plated robots.
I guess most part of the screen-play writer's job was contemplating "what would look cool?" 'If it banged like this and exploded like that...' It probably would have made no difference if Christian Bale's character were to be played by a more human T-800 or T-600.
Personally, I like T-800 better. Some brownie points to the robotic bikes that breathlessly chase our heroes before disappearing into the superfluous metal waste that fills most part of the background.
Honestly! There is enough scrap to last for a whole season of Junkyard Wars or may be two seasons. If the makers of the film promised a futuristic sci-fi blitzkrieg, they probably forgot to mention - it was for kids aged 10 to 14.
The movie is a lot of noise, chaos and is an utter insult to human intelligence.
