Review of Terminator Genisys (2015) by Ian B — 22 Nov 2015
Terminator: Genisys tries to pass itself off as a reboot of the franchise, but it ultimately ends up being nothing more than a confusing mess. The main problem with Genisys is that it's so concerned with re-writing everything from the first two films, thereby creating a handful of alternate timelines that unfortunately make little sense.
It's like the writers just decided to throw a million ideas at the wall and see what would stick instead of coming up with an actual story. The film jumps from one CGI filled set-piece to the next, leaving us endless plot holes and not even attempting to answer key questions in the story.
Did they really think fans would prefer THIS instead of the way things originally played out in the series? The only good thing about the film is Arnold. Over 30 years later and he still owns the character, and even though the script lets him down it was nice to see him back one last time.
The rest of the cast pale in comparison to their original counterparts. There are a few decent action sequences, but they can't overcome the horrible script and ridiculous plot twists. Skip this one and just re-watch the first two.
