I only give it 5 stars because I feel it deserves more credit than it has. No this isn't as good as The Terminator, or T2, But it's still good and doesn't deserve all the hate. It still has some great action scenes, mainly the truck scene, but it's still good.
The ending is actually sad, they couldn't stop Judgement Day, so the world will be in a huge war, and I guess that's what Terminator Salvation is about. Either way, it's a welcome edition in the franchise and is WAY better than people say, it doesn't deserve the hate, it has some great scenes, the special effects are good, the acting's decent, it has some funny lines, it's a good watch, and it's fun.
It may not be movie of the decade, but it's still good, I recommend it.
