Review of Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991) by Trevor R — 06 Feb 2014

James Cameron knew how to utilize the undeniable presence and confidence of Schwarzaneggar better than any other director, and Arnold's simple yet effective performance here is great. The T-1000 is one of the great film villains, and with the radical transformation of Linda Hamilton, her character becomes something else entirely (dealing with her trauma head on rather than hitting the reset button like the average sequel would).

Edward Furlong is certainly the weak link of the cast, but he gives an earnest (if sometimes annoying) performance that hits the right beats when necessary. Here's a movie that puts story and theme first, and uses incredible makeup, puppetry, and early CGI to great effect.

The ending is a real tearjerker. The gold standard of Hollywood blockbusters.
