Review of Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991) by Lucas Y — 26 Jun 2016
Very hard to believe T2 is 25 years old. The wardrobes, hair styles and arcade games are really the only thing that make it feel older. Otherwise, it seems like it could have come out recently. T2 has stood the test of time better than any action movie ever and to me it's without question the greatest action movie and sequel ever made.
Yes, better than Godfather 2. Arnold shines as the T-101. So many classic scenes and lines throughout. "I need your clothes, your boots and your bike." Who would have thought Robert Patrick would be one of the greatest bad guys ever? T-1000 is awesome and his dead pan, bald eagle demeanor was very menacing.
He really felt like a machine. And realistically he could have taken out John easily. All he had to do was blend into any floor (like he did with the fat cop) and nobody would have seen him coming. For such an advanced machine to the T-101 Arnold out smarted him throughout the film.
Linda Hamilton doesn't get enough credit as Sarah Connor. I don't think anyone could have played the part as well as she did. Aside from the action and memorable performances, T2 has a ton of heart.
John and the Terminator's relationship is very sweet. And the final scene with Arnold being lowered into the lava stuff is heart wrenching. Wouldn't change a thing about this movie. James Cameron's best.
